- Manuscript addresses or is framed within the context of a question of global significance.
- Names and affiliations of all authors are listed on the first page.
- Only one corresponding author is listed.
- Word count is under 12,000 words for original articles, 20,000 words for review articles, 3,000 words for technical notes or comments/replies.
- All data (including reference material data), scripts, and code necessary to evaluate and replicate the findings and build upon the study has been made available via online repository as per AGC's Data, code, and outputs availability policy.
- A CRediT statement is included in the manuscript.
- A Data and Code Availability statement is included in the manuscript.
- Acknowledgements clearly indicate source of funding.
- References are in the format requested by AGC.
- Any supplementary files are included in the submission.
- Papers in preparation are not cited and conference abstracts have been avoided to the extent possible (and justified in the cover letter).
- Equations are submitted as editable text.
- Numbers appear in decimal or scientific notation format (note Excel-style scientific notation is not accepted).
- Acronyms are defined the first time they are used.
- If AI has been used in the preparation of the manuscript this is disclosed in both the manuscript and the cover letter to editors.
- The manuscript does not contain any slanderous or libellous claim towards any party.
- The submitted manuscript does not infringe any existing copyright or any other third party rights. If the manuscript contains copyrighted material, permission has been sought from and granted by the copyright holder.
- In case of eventual acceptance, the authors grant Advances in Geochemistry and Cosmochemistry a non-exclusive right to publish the manuscript, licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution License 4.0 (CC BY 4.0).
- The authors agree with the following copyright notice available at the bottom of the submissions page.
Research Articles
Original research papers presenting advances in knowledge and understanding of geochemical processes and/or addressing longstanding questions in geoscience and/or environmental science or describe novel and significant analytical methods. Papers will be limited to 12,000 words length and 15 figures and tables.
AGC encourages submissions to be made using the available article templates. While we will process initial submissions not written using the templates, revised manuscripts will be required to use the templates.
Review Articles
Review papers present a synthesis of the current state of the field or of a particular longstanding question. Papers will be limited to 20,000 words length and 20 figures and tables.
AGC encourages submissions to be made using the available article templates. While we will process initial submissions not written using the templates, revised manuscripts will be required to use the templates.
Technical Notes
Technical notes are short contributions that present significant improvements to analytical methods, algorithms, software, or reference material characterizations in all fields of geochemistry and cosmochemistry. Papers will be limited to 3,000 words length and 3 figures and tables.
AGC encourages submissions to be made using the available article templates. While we will process initial submissions not written using the templates, revised manuscripts will be required to use the templates.
Comments and Replies
Short communications discussing articles originally published by AGC. Comments will be expected to be written by author(s) not involved in the original article. These can involve challenges or clarifications of any sort. Comments will be subjected to peer review before acceptance and published alongside a reply from the author(s) of the original study. Authors of the original study will only be contacted after successful peer review. Comments and replies are limited to 1,500 words in length and a combined total of 3 figures and tables. Although not mandatory, authors of comments are encouraged to contact the production editors well in advance of submission, to discuss its relevance and timeliness.

Submission of manuscripts to Advances in Geochemistry and Cosmochemistry should be original manuscripts not previously published or in consideration for publication elsewhere (see Code of Conduct)
Authors who publish with this journal agree to the following terms:
- Authors retain copyright and grant Advances in Geochemistry and Cosmochemistry right of first publication with the work, simultaneously licensed under a Creative Commons 4.0 International License (CC BY 4.0) that allows others to share the work with an acknowledgement of the work's authorship and initial publication in Advances in Geochemistry and Cosmochemistry.
- Authors are able to enter into separate, additional contractual arrangements for the non-exclusive distribution of the Advances in Geochemistry and Cosmochemistry's published version of the work (e.g., post it to an institutional repository or publish it in a book), with an acknowledgement of its initial publication in Advances in Geochemistry and Cosmochemistry.
- Authors are permitted and encouraged to post their work online (e.g., in institutional repositories or on their website) prior to and during the submission process, as it can lead to productive exchanges, as well as earlier and greater citation of published work (see The Effect of Open Access).
All articles should include the following statement:
