Advances in Geochemistry and Cosmochemistry (AGC) is a community-led diamond open access journal that aims to publish innovative and globally relevant articles in geochemistry and cosmochemistry.
We welcome all contributions that use geochemical data and models to study chemical, physical and biological processes on Earth and other planetary bodies. Regional studies put in the context of a wider research question will also be considered.
AGC publishes articles in the following formats:
- full-length articles (max. 12,000 words; 15 figures and tables)
- reviews (max. 20,000 words; 20 figures and tables)
- technical notes (max. 3,000 words; 3 figures and tables)
- comments (max. 1,500 words; 3 figures and tables)
All AGC research articles are subject to rigorous peer review by a minimum of two expert referees. Articles are published as and when they are accepted, copyedited, and typeset. Published articles are assigned to an issue and volume dependent on the publication date; there are two issues per volume, and one volume per year.
Please consult our Editorial Policy and Author Guidelines for more information concerning our policies and the editorial process.
Open science policy
The AGC Editorial Team is committed to making our articles both free to read and free to publish — without any article processing charges or other fees — which you can read about here. To support our philosophy, our editorial workflow is performed via Open Journal Systems (OJS), part of the Public Knowledge Project. Authors retain all copyrights of the published material under a Creative Commons Attribution 4.0 licence (CC BY 4.0). This means that articles are free to share, distribute, and adapt, provided that appropriate credit is given and changes are indicated.
Submitted manuscripts presenting new data and code must be made available via online repositories (see Data, code, and outputs availability policy).
AGC endorses the Statement of Commitment of the Coalition on Publishing Data in the Earth and Space Sciences (COPDESS). All data and code necessary to evaluate and replicate the findings of our articles are made available via open, FAIR-aligned (Findable, Accessible, Interoperable, Reusable) repositories with a DOI. Manuscripts submitted to AGC presenting new data or code which are not made available via online repositories will not progress to review until this is rectified.
Submitted manuscripts that are available elsewhere on preprint servers or self-archived and publicly available will be considered by AGC. AGC will only not consider manuscripts if they have been published or currently being considered by another journal. Authors are free to distribute their submitted, accepted, or published manuscripts in a repository of their choice.
Website and archiving
AGC articles are hosted and supported by Uppsala University Publications via OJS, and archived with LOCKSS (Lots of Copies Keep Stuff Safe) and CLOCKSS (Controlled LOCKSS) via Uppsala University Publications, Uppsala University, Sweden.
Proceeds earned from the sale of AGC merchandise via our Redbubble Shop go directly and solely to supporting the journal website and the archiving of AGC articles.
