Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • Where available, URLs for the references have been provided.
  • The text is single-spaced; uses a 12-point font; employs italics, rather than underlining (except with URL addresses); and all illustrations, figures, and tables are placed within the text at the appropriate points, rather than at the end.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.

Author Guidelines

The journal mostly publishes articles in English, but articles written in German or French are also accepted.

Manuscripts written in English should be in either British or American English consistently throughout; the language of the submission should be clear and correct.

Quotations from the texts under study should be given both in the original language (e.g. Arabic, Hindi, Chinese etc.) and translation.

Beside the main section, each paper should have an introduction and conclusion. The main section of the paper should be divided into smaller sub-sections with appropriate sub-titles. After the conclusion the final parts follow in this order: acknowledgments, abbreviations, references and appendices. Supplementary materials should be submitted separately.

Each article should begin with an abstract of up to seven keywords. The abstract must not exceed 200 words.

References should be at the end of the manuscript and must follow the author-date format. Do not include publications that may have been used in preparation of the paper but are not cited in it.

Orientalia Suecana uses the Libertinus fonts in its publications. We encourage authors to make use of Scheherazade New, if citation in Arabic script is necessary. For other scripts such as Chinese or Devanagari, we recommend the font family Noto Serif.
