Submission Preparation Checklist

As part of the submission process, authors are required to check off their submission's compliance with all of the following items, and submissions may be returned to authors that do not adhere to these guidelines.
  • The submission has not been previously published, nor is it before another journal for consideration (or an explanation has been provided in Comments to the Editor).
  • The submission file is in OpenOffice, Microsoft Word, or RTF document file format.
  • The text adheres to the stylistic and bibliographic requirements outlined in the Author Guidelines.
  • I am authorized by my co-authors (if any) to enter into these agreements regarding the submitted manuscript
  • I am/we are the sole author(s) of the manuscript and have full authority to enter into this agreement
  • The submitted manuscript does not infringe any existing copyright or any other third party rights
  • The authors will retain the copyright in regards to our respective contributions to the manuscript and all versions that follow from it
  • Uppsala University Publications and Research Reports from the Department of Human Geography are granted a non-exclusive right to publish the manuscript, licensed under the Creative Commons Attribution License 4.0 (CC-BY 4.0).

Author Guidelines

Working papers

Working papers, academic debates and other scientific material do not undergone peer review, but are published at the discretion of the editors. At least one of the authors must be employed or affiliated to the department and have a PhD. Before submitting, potential authors should in the first step discuss the contribution with one of the researchers in charge of one of the research profiles; the most appropriate based on the contribution. Contributions should then be submitted through the Uppsala University publishing platform, journals.uu.se.

 

Research Reports

Research reports are peer reviewed within one of the research profiles at the Department of Human Geography. At least one of the authors must be employed or attached to the department and have a PhD. Before submitting, potential authors should in the first step discuss the contribution with one of the researchers in charge of one of the research profiles; the most appropriate based on the contribution. Contributions should then be submitted through the Uppsala University publishing platform, journals.uu.se. The review is preferably conducted in the form of a seminar held at the institution or elsewhere. After review within the research profile and changes by the author, the recommendation for publication will be handed over to the main editor who will make a final decision.

Working papers

Contributions should be submitted using the Template for manuscripts in Word found under https://libguides-en.ub.uu.se/thesis. Note that the title should be followed by two lines about the series, both using Times New Roman 12. The first line should read “Forskningsrapporter från Kulturgeografiska institutionen” and the second line “Nr X Uppsala År”, adding the correct number and year for the publication in question.

The standard reference system for working papers is Harvard.

The author is responsible for any text formatting or language checks.

Reports

Contributions should be submitted using the  UU Thesis template in Word found under https://libguides-en.ub.uu.se/thesis. Note that the title should be preceded by two lines about the series, both using Times New Roman 12. The first line should read “Forskningsrapporter från Kulturgeografiska institutionen” and the second line “Nr X Uppsala År”, adding the correct number and year for the publication in question. Note that in order to be able to use the print-on-demand service a cover is needed.

The standard reference system for Research Reports is Harvard.

The author is responsible for any text formatting or language checks.
